Terms of use

The agreement between you and Fol. Last updated 8 September 2026.

By using Fol you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short.

What Fol does

Fol transcribes speech into text and inserts it where you were typing. It runs on macOS and Android and needs an internet connection to transcribe.

Your account

You need an account to dictate. You are responsible for keeping access to it, and for what is dictated through it. One account is for one person.

Plans and limits

The free plan includes a fixed number of words each week. Paid plans are marketed as unlimited and carry a fair-use ceiling to stop automated abuse; ordinary use will not reach it. Allowances are counted per account across all of your devices and reset weekly.

Paid plans renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

What you may not do

• Resell Fol, or run it as a service for other people.
• Automate it to generate transcription volume that a person could not produce by speaking.
• Use it to break the law, or to record people who have not agreed to be recorded where the law requires their agreement.

Recording other people is your responsibility. The rules differ by country and by situation, and Fol cannot know your circumstances.

Accuracy

Speech recognition makes mistakes. Fol will sometimes mishear you, and it cleans up what you said — removing fillers and fixing punctuation — which means the text is not always word for word. Read what it wrote before you send it. Fol is not suitable for anything where an exact verbatim record is required, such as legal or medical transcription.

Availability

Fol depends on servers and on third-party speech providers, and those can be unavailable. We do not promise uninterrupted service.

Ending it

You can stop using Fol and delete your account at any time — see Delete your account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.

Liability

Fol is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
